What the Terms Mean

Ranging error: a systematic distance error, measured at about 10 m and 25 m.
3D point accuracy: how close a single point is to its true position. Past 25 m, FARO says to add 0.1 mm per meter.
Range noise: how much repeated measurements of the same point vary. Dark and shiny surfaces add noise.
Conditions: FARO's figures are one standard deviation, after warm-up and within the operating temperature range.

What This Covers and What It Does Not

The published accuracy covers one scan.
The fit between scans is shown on your registration report.
Your scale bar check proves the whole system measured a known length on this case.
Keep all three, plus the calibration certificate for the year, in the case file.
